Take your seat under the stars and celebrate the beauty of the open outback sky with Music for Stargazing.
Inspired by the vast magnitude of the open outback night sky, and the traditional stories of the Bidjara people, this bespoke chamber music concert explores humankind’s long-held fascination with the cosmos.
Join Kate Miller-Heidke and William Barton, as well as renowned soloists Aunty Delmae Barton, Jess Hitchcock, Keir Nuttall, Samuel Pankhurst, Véronique Serret, Vanessa Tomlinson and Erik Griswold, at the Charleville Cosmos Centre for a program inspired by landscape, stargazing, cosmology and cultural heritage.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been acknowledged as the world’s first astronomers, their ancient cultural knowledge of the sky embodied within the dreamtime stories, shared orally, ceremonially and through visual artworks. Inspired by Charleville’s unique astrological permutations, and dreamtime stories of the Bidjara people, Music for Stargazing will also feature the world-premiere of a new composition by William Barton.
Grab your tickets, and your own chair, picnic blanket, or rug for a night of unparalleled stargazing, and world-class chamber music under the evening glow of the Milky Way.
